These portraits are born from the encounter. They are people that, at some point, I have met: faces that crossed my path and left a mark, visible or invisible. Each one of them holds a story, an emotion, a fragment of life that I tried to capture before it faded away.
I'm not looking for pose or perfection. I am looking for presence. That instant in which the gaze reveals something more than an expression - a fleeting truth, a thought that barely peeks through. In each photograph I try to make the person recognizable, but I also try to make the viewer see him or herself reflected.
Portraiture for me is a form of silent dialogue. A way of stopping time and approaching the mystery of others.
Each image is an attempt to understand the humanity we share, to keep our common humanity intact. beauty of what we are when we let ourselves be seen without defense.
